SLTF Begins Second Semester Disbursement Ahead of “No-Fees-Stress” Initiative

Students Loan Trust Fund Ghana: Second Semester Disbursements Begin
The Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) has officially started disbursing second-semester student loans to tertiary students across Ghana. This proactive move comes just days before the official launch of the highly anticipated ‘No-Fees-Stress’ initiative, aimed at transforming how tertiary education is financed in the country.

Over 19,000 Tertiary Students Receive Funds
According to SLTF CEO Saajida Shiraz, as of Tuesday, July 1, 2025, loans have been successfully disbursed to 19,703 students nationwide. The disbursement process prioritized students in private tertiary institutions, whose academic calendars are typically ahead of their public counterparts.
This swift action aligns with the SLTF’s renewed mission to provide timely and equitable financial assistance to students in need, especially those at risk of academic disruption due to financial constraints.
‘No-Fees-Stress’ Initiative to Launch on July 4
The upcoming ‘No-Fees-Stress’ program, set for launch on Friday, July 4, represents a significant shift in the government’s strategy for financing higher education. It promises a streamlined, student-friendly loan application and disbursement process that reduces bureaucratic delays and enhances transparency.
“The days when the Trust Fund approved students for loans it couldn’t disburse are over,” said Ms. Shiraz. “The revamped SLTF is now working diligently each day to fulfil its mandate of providing timely financial support to students.”
A Renewed Commitment to Educational Equity
The latest round of loan disbursements reflects the SLTF’s commitment to educational equity, ensuring that all eligible students, regardless of the institution they attend, have access to the funding needed to continue their education without interruption.
This is in line with the government’s broader goals of academic continuity, financial accessibility, and inclusive education across Ghana.
